Who? Who am I?

I am a mother.
I am a teacher.
I am a daughter, a sister, a friend.
I am a Type 1 Diabetic.
I am a CrossFit junky.
I am extremely organized.
I am wound a little too tight sometimes.
I am caring, loving, passionate, and loyal to my loved ones.
I am educated and determined.
I am always willing to learn and yet sometimes afraid to take risks.

Who am I?

The sad thing is... I was able to type those first 4 so easily...Why did I spend 15 minutes trying to compose the rest of those statements?  Why did I "give up"?

What I am realizing about myself is... I am not allowing myself to realize the truly wonderful person that I am!  I am the only one holding myself back... I am the only one saying "I can't"... I am the only one noticing my "flaws" and my "imperfections"... I am the only one not loving me!+

Yes, I am a  mother of a very beautiful and smart 2 year old, Emma Grace.  She is the reason I am so strong, so loving, so passionate, and so determined.  She is my proof that GOD is GOOD!

Yes, I am a teacher of students with moderate disabilities.  I love the career that I have choosen, I do not believe that I was made for anything other than loving, nurturing, and teaching children with disabilities.

Yes, I am a Type 1 Diabetic...I have been for 15 years now.  I am insulin dependent (as are all Type 1 Diabetics) and I wear an insulin pump.  I battle both lows and highs all in a given day.  I have NEVER had a "high five" or a "great job" from my doctors...but I have learned to live with this disease and I am doing the BEST that I possibly can!

Yes, I am a CrossFit junky.  Sure...go ahead...place that stereotype on me!  I'll take it with a smile! The truth is, CrossFit has changed my life... It's changed my perception on who I am...my strengths, my weaknesses, my growth, and my confidence.  No stigma, no stereotype, no one can take this change in perception from me!

So...this leads to why I started this blog... I am not much of a writer... I have tried to keep "diaries" and "journals" for years and I always "give up"...so here I am now...

The reason for this blog is to "document" my success and failures...not for any type of attention or applause (although I will appreciate the encouraging and loving words) and not for any type of criticism or hatred (which I know may occur regardless)... I am using this avenue of "journaling" to document my blood sugars, my diet, my workouts...to document my highs and my lows (literally)...to share my insecurities, my strengths, and my weaknesses... I am using this avenue of "journaling" in hopes that I can look back and truly see how far I have come and how much I have achieved... I am doing this in hopes that I will also inspire others to look far beyond the insecurities that have kept them locked up for so long!

I look forward to sharing my days, nights, successes, failures, and most personal moments with you....

XOXO,
Chels
